Countdown to Passover

no comments

Over the next two weeks we are going to break down Palm Sunday and the events leading up to Easter. We pray that this is a chance for you to grow in your knowledge of what Jesus did for you on the cross. We also pray that you are able to use some of these tools to teach your children about the most important gift that will ever be given to them.

There are so many activities, crafts and games that you can do to explain and teach these stories, but the most important tool we have is the Word of God. Below are some of the passages that we will be discussing. You can pick one each night to read as a family to start preparing your family for Easter.

The First Passover:
Exodus 12

Palm Sunday:
Luke 19:28-40
Psalm 118:25-29
Zechariah 9:9
Isaiah 62:10-12

Jesus’ last message to the people:
John 14-16

If you don’t want to read all three chapters:
John 14:1-7, 14-21, 26-27
John 15:5-7
John 16:5-13, 23-24, 33

Jesus’ prayers:
For Himself: John 17:1-4
For the Disciples: John 17:11, 15-17
For the Believers: John 17:20-23, 23

The Cross: The best gift ever given to you:
John 19

The Resurrection: The best day ever!

Our Response to the Cross:
Romans 3:10-12, 23
Romans 6:5-8, 23

As we’ve said before, we hope you will join us this year by purposefully celebrating holidays and establishing new traditions with your family!  We want the time from now until Easter to be very meaningful for you.
