Thankful For Our Kids

no comments

Children are a blessing, without a doubt.  But let’s face it, there are days where we have to remind ourselves of this truth.  And so, we will take this chance to talk about being thankful for our kids.  It is important that we remind ourselves of the truth on tough days.  It is so easy to believe lies about our kids that arise from our selfishness and our frustrations.  We can fight these lies with the truth of how thankful we are for them.

It is also a blessing to our kids when we tell them why we are so thankful for them.  When we praise our kids, we try to focus on their effort and their character traits rather than on their accomplishments.  This reinforces the fact that their self-worth and their beauty comes from within.  It reinforces that who you are is more important than what you have done or what skills you have.   We are always trying to be more consistent in our prayers for them.  We ask God to show us how to speak to their hearts, guide them, and develop them into who God created them to be.  We ask God to show us how to help them fulfill His will for their lives.

Nate and I spent some time thinking of some of the reasons that we are thankful for our kiddos.

Our kids bring us so much joy!  We know that yours do too.  Take a moment to jot down the things that make you thankful for your kids.  This will be a wonderful thing to tell them on their birthday, or to save in their scrapbook or even better tell them at the supper table tonight.  It will help you to enjoy the moments that you have with them.  When you are conscious of your thankfulness for your kids, you are building them up…in their hearts and in yours.

Psalm 127:3-5 (NLT)

Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.
Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.
How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!

We want to hear from you!
