We love books!! I think this might possibly be the understatement of the century. 🙂 I think a more accurate way to say the first sentence is “Our family is obsessed with books!!!!!!” We have successfully passed on this love to all of our children. I dream of one day having a library in our house that has floor to ceiling bookshelves. I originally thought that it would just need to be on one of the walls in the room, but as I look around the house I think that would not be enough.
We love learning! We love training our kids through character books! We love exploring new places and learning about new animals through books. If one of the kids wants to learn something, we find a book for that topic. Our latest interests are sign language, Amelia Earhart and books by Mo Willems.
Today I am going to share some of our favorite FUNNY books. Sometimes you need a good laugh or a nice, light-hearted read. These are some of our go-to books when we need a little pick me up.
Our latest find:
Elephant and Piggy Series by Mo Willems. We aren’t as big of fans of the Pigeon series, but the Elephant and Piggie ones are great! My favorite is “I will surprise my friend.” Luke is still cracking jokes about this one!
Hannah loves Mercy Watson books by Kate DiCamillo. They have some challenging words in them but it is always fun to find out what trouble Mercy the Pig has gotten herself into.
Amelia Bedelia books by Peggy Parish always brings a good laugh especially when they are read by one of our favorite babysitters. She has an amazing Amelia Bedelia voice that fits the character perfectly 🙂 We are enjoying the newer series when Amelia Bedelia is in elementary school.
There was an old lady who swallowed….well anything that you can imagine series. Now there is one for all seasons and a lot of the holidays. I pack these away with my decorations and bring them out in the correct season.
Nate likes to share the series of books by Richard Scarry. They have a lot going on the different pages, but all of our children are entertained by them for hours. One of the funnier ones that we have read is Farmer Patrick Pig.
Other books that we enjoy that aren’t a part of a series are…
Remember the library is full of books! Check out some of these at your local library. What are your go-to funny books? We are always looking for new ones!!
